GTA VI Pre-Orders Explained — Including the Perk Most Coverage Missed

Pre-orders opened June 25 and the broad strokes are well known. But two details from Rockstar’s own announcement keep getting lost: digital pre-orders include a free month of GTA+, and the Vintage Vice City Pack is not actually a pre-order exclusive — it comes with every purchase made before November 20.

The two editions

The Standard Edition is $79.99 US and is the whole game. The Ultimate Edition at $99.99 US adds what Rockstar calls “an exclusive collection of premium vehicles, weapons, apparel, and action threaded across all aspects of Jason and Lucia’s story,” including access to exclusive in-game vendors. Nothing announced suggests the Ultimate content affects completion — it reads as cosmetic and convenience items, not checklist items. For a completionist, the $20 buys flavor, not progress.

The GTA+ month nobody talks about

Buried in the June 24 Newswire post: digital pre-orders include a free month of GTA+, Rockstar’s paid membership. Rockstar has not said what GTA+ perks will look like in the GTA VI era — the program today is built around GTA Online — which makes this mostly a curiosity for now. But if GTA+ ends up carrying VI-era benefits at launch, digital pre-order players start with them.

Preload and the no-disc reality

Digital pre-orders can start preloading November 12 — a full week early. The physical box also arrives November 12, but it contains a download code, not a disc, specifically so physical buyers can preload too. Either way you are downloading the whole game, and Rockstar has not published a file size. GTA V passed 100 GB; plan for considerably more and clear the space during preload week, not on launch night.

Pre-order questions, answered

Do I have to pre-order GTA VI to get the Vintage Vice City Pack?

No — and this is the detail most coverage gets wrong. Rockstar’s announcement says all pre-orders AND purchases before November 20 get the Vintage Vice City Pack. Buying on launch day still qualifies; the pack’s real cutoff is November 20, 2026.

What does a digital GTA VI pre-order include?

The game (Standard $79.99 or Ultimate $99.99 in the US), the Vintage Vice City Pack, preload access from November 12, and a free month of GTA+ — Rockstar’s membership program — included with digital pre-orders.

Is there a GTA VI disc?

No. The physical boxed version contains a download code rather than a disc, and it goes on sale starting November 12 so buyers can begin preloading before launch. An internet connection is required to install either version.

When can I preload GTA VI?

Digital pre-orders can begin preloading on November 12, 2026 — one week before the November 19 launch. Rockstar has not announced the download size, so clear generous space; GTA V exceeded 100 GB and GTA VI is a much larger game.

Is GTA VI single-player or online at launch?

Rockstar’s pre-order announcement describes Grand Theft Auto VI as “a single player experience.” Rockstar has said nothing about a GTA VI online mode at launch — GTA Online continues as its own thing in the meantime.

What time does GTA VI unlock on November 19?

Rockstar has not announced unlock times. Region-by-region unlock schedules circulating online do not trace back to any official Rockstar statement and contradict each other — treat them as invented until Rockstar publishes a schedule.
